This month, we’re embracing bold expression with Vivid Intentions, a rich, radiant palette built around a stunning selection of batiks curated by Cece’s Quilts and Things— one of QuiltInk’s international designers, originally from India and now based in Australia.
As a global platform, QuiltInk celebrates creativity from all corners of the quilting world, and this challenge is a tribute to that vibrant diversity. With Vivid Intentions, we invite you to explore the depth and movement of batik fabrics — a technique rooted in many cultures across Asia, including Cece’s Indian heritage. The textures and tones in this palette, including hand-dyed fabrics from The Square Inch in Chennai, speak of tradition, craftsmanship, and artistic freedom — perfect for bold mock-ups with meaning.
But first, let’s give a big shout-out to the winner of the June QuiltInk Challenge!
From soft vintage hues to dreamy layouts, the QuiltInk Wall was full of heart last month thanks to the Love Letters palette by Becca Plymale. We were touched by every romantic, delicate creation. Congratulations to @ljculver56, our randomly selected winner for June! You’ll receive a gorgeous 11 Fat Quarter bundle of Love Letters by Becca Plymale for Art Gallery Fabrics — a huge thank-you to Becca for sharing such a beautiful collection with the community! And thank YOU all for filling QuiltInk with beauty, month after month.
THE PALETTE
Batik fabrics are created through a wax-resist dyeing process and are known for their depth, movement, and organic beauty. While often associated with Indonesia, India has its own unique batik traditions. Cece’s palette blends these soft, loosely woven Indian batiks with handmade, hand-dyed fabrics from The Square Inch — a small shop based in Chennai.
The result? A striking selection of fabrics layered with color, texture, and intention — ideal for quilters ready to make a bold statement. Whether you already love batiks or are curious to try them, this is your chance to let vibrant fabrics guide your design.

This month, one lucky winner will receive a Fat Quarter bundle featuring the 10 batiks from the Vivid Intentions palette, sent directly from India — a special prize generously sponsored by Cece herself!
Whether you’re a longtime batik lover or it’s your first time diving in, this is your chance to play with rich contrasts, layered tones, and storytelling through color. We can’t wait to see your interpretations of Vivid Intentions all over the QuiltInk Wall!
