This January, we’re kicking off 2025 with a fresh challenge designed to connect you with the beauty of nature! Featuring the serene Earthtones Palette, inspired by winter mountains, forests, and earthy landscapes, this challenge invites you to create stunning mock-ups that embrace grounding browns, lush greens, subtle greys, and warm touches of red.

 

Before we dive in, let’s look back at the December Challenge, which brought in about 250 incredible entries featuring the enchanting Winter Magic Palette. It’s been exciting to enjoy so many creative mock-ups filled with pinks, blues, and purples, capturing the magic of the season. Exploring the Earthtones Palette

The Earthtones Palette is thoughtfully curated from the Pure Solids collection by Art Gallery Fabrics, bringing a harmonious blend of nature-inspired hues to your designs. This palette is divided into three groups:

  • Browns: Warm and grounding, like tree bark and soil.
  • Red-Orange: Vibrant and energetic, reminiscent of sunsets.
  • Greens and Blues: Refreshing hues of forests and mountain skies.
Starting the year with the Earthtones Palette is a wonderful way to ground yourself and reconnect with the natural world. These colors reflect the serene beauty of winter landscapes, inviting creativity and mindfulness into your quilting process. Whether you’re designing modern mock-ups or intricate patterns, this palette offers a versatile foundation to inspire designs that feel timeless and meaningful.
Meet The Combo Star BOM and Plains and Pine

This January, one lucky winner will receive free access to the Combo Star Block of the Month by Plains and Pine! This exciting BOM kicks off on January 1st, 2025, and runs through August. It’s a perfect way to level up your quilting skills, with step-by-step instructions and support to create a stunning modern Star quilt alongside a vibrant community.

 

Lindlee from Plains and Pine is the designer of the Combo Star BOM. Based in Bozeman, Montana, she’s been creating modern star quilt patterns since 2020. Lindlee loves helping quilters build confidence through sew-alongs and workshops. When not quilting, she enjoys gardening, baking, and spending time outdoors with her family.

How to participate
 
1. Access to www.quiltink.com, sign in or create your free account.
2. Choose a pattern from the main page.
3. Color the pattern using the challenge palette, it’s the first palette in solid palettes list.
4. Share your mock-up on our #quiltinkwall.
 
5. Boost your chances creating a post or story on Instagram, mentioning @quilt_ink and @plainsandpine, and tagging #QuiltInkChallengeJan25. It counts as 2 entries in the giveaway.

Selection: On February 1st, we will pick 1 mock-up randomly chosen between all the mock-ups in the Wall made with the QuiltInk Challenge Jan24 palette (the ones with the gift icon).
