NEW QUILTINK BRANDING AND INTERFACE
|
| |
Do you know that when I talk about QuiltInk, it feels like I’m talking about my third child?
From the very beginning, its name carried a purpose—Quilt Ink. A tool meant to bring color to quilt planning, like ink on paper, helping quilters visualize their creations before cutting a single piece of fabric.
It was born in the heart of my family, built from a shared dream and endless determination. In the early days, it was a fragile little tech “being,” difficult to keep alive. It took patience, late nights, and a lot of trial and error to keep it going. But thanks to the support of so many “godmothers and godfathers” (aka quilt pattern designers), it grew stronger, evolving into something bigger than I ever imagined.
And now, on its 4th birthday—February 2nd—we’re thrilled to introduce its biggest transformation yet. A brand-new look. A smoother, more intuitive interface. One more step in its journey of growth.
Taylor from Toad and Sew worked her magic to create our stunning new branding. The modern logo, the fresh color palette—it’s everything we dreamed of and more. It perfectly captures QuiltInk’s spirit: a place where creativity meets technology, where quilters bring their ideas to life.
If you’re ever looking for a designer to bring your brand vision to life, I can’t recommend her enough. She was a joy to work with—attentive to every request, patient with my perfectionism (and I can be very demanding!), and truly talented at translating ideas into a cohesive identity.
|
| |
To integrate this fresh new look, the tech man and I rolled up our sleeves and got to work. (Yes, I even learned to code!) QuiltInk had outgrown its old shell, and it was time for a change.
Now, the platform feels different. It’s modern. Fresh. A space that truly reflects the creativity and innovation behind every quilt project.
And beyond just a new look, QuiltInk is now easier to navigate than ever. The interface is more intuitive, helping you find and color patterns effortlessly. From discovering new designs to organizing your projects, everything is designed to make your experience smoother and more enjoyable.
|
| |
But we’re not done yet! The main pages have been revamped, but there’s still more to come. QuiltInk is a living, evolving platform, and you’ll see updates happening in real time. Once the new interface has fully settled, I’ll update all the tutorials—until then, they will remain in the previous format.
And here’s where you come in—we want to hear from you! Do you love the new look? Does it feel fresh and inspiring? Let us know what you think!
And if you run into any issues, miss a feature, or have suggestions, we’re all ears. Your feedback helps QuiltInk grow.
So dive in, explore the new QuiltInk, and celebrate with us. This is just the beginning!

| |
We’ve been working behind the scenes to perfect the Bella Solids experience in QuiltInk! The Bella Solids palette has now been fully updated, carefully matched to both the Moda Fabrics Color Card and the colors listed on their website.

QUILTINK STICKERS & GIVEAWAY
|
| |
Are you going to QuiltCon? Unfortunately, I’m not—at least not this year. As you may know, I live on the other side of the globe, in Europe, and now just isn’t the right time for such a big trip. But one day, I will! And trust me, I have so many ideas for a QuiltInk booth. Would you like to see us there in person?
This year, though, something special is happening! I’ve connected with a wonderful person who has kindly offered to hand out QuiltInk stickers for me. They’re still in the works, but if all goes well and you’re heading to QuiltCon, look for Olivia from The Quilty Virtual Assistant—she’ll have a QuiltInk sticker for you! And as a bonus, you’ll get one of hers too!
But wait—there’s more! I’m hosting a giveaway for everyone who shares a photo of their QuiltInk sticker on Instagram! Just post a picture of your sticker (or share it in your stories), tag @quilt_ink, and make sure you’re following us. At the end of QuiltCon, I’ll randomly pick one lucky winner to receive a beautiful fabric bundle (details coming soon!).
I won’t be able to see the stickers in person, but I’m already in love with how they’re turning out. If you’re not going to QuiltCon, would you like a chance to grab one from our website? Send me a message at info@quiltink.com and let me know!

Continuing our journey through the fascinating world of color harmonies, it’s time to explore a slightly more complex and versatile approach: split-complementary color harmony. This method combines contrast and balance, creating striking yet harmonious quilt designs that captivate the eye.
What is Split-Complementary Color Harmony?
Split-complementary harmony involves choosing one base color and pairing it with the two colors adjacent to its complement on the color wheel. For example, if you select blue as your base, its split complementaries would be yellow-orange and red-orange. This approach offers a bold, dynamic palette while avoiding the high tension of direct complementary colors. |
| |

| |
Meaning and Emotion
Split-complementary quilts strike a balance between vibrancy and harmony. The contrast between the base color and the adjacent complementaries brings energy to your design, while the slightly muted tension between the complementaries adds a sense of balance. This harmony works beautifully in quilts meant to evoke excitement without overwhelming the viewer.
Focal Points in Split-Complementary Quilts
With split-complementary palettes, careful distribution of color is key. Use the base color prominently, while the complementaries can be introduced as accents to highlight focal points or add depth. Textured fabrics, bold prints, and intricate patterns can enhance the interplay between the colors, creating dynamic areas of interest.
Quilting Application
Split-complementary palettes are highly versatile, offering bold color combinations without overwhelming the design. Whether you’re crafting a modern quilt with sharp contrasts or a more subdued piece, this harmony allows you to explore playful yet balanced interactions between hues.
Split-Complementary Inspiration!
Below, I’ve selected two stunning split-complementary mock-ups from the QuiltInk wall to showcase the potential of this color harmony. Notice how the bold contrasts and thoughtful placements create visually impactful designs while maintaining a sense of cohesion.
By experimenting with split-complementary palettes, you can push the boundaries of your quilting creativity and discover exciting new possibilities for your projects! |
| |
Explore and Create Your Own Color Palettes!
To help visualize how Split Complementary colors work, I used the Adobe Color online tool to generate the palettes featured below the mockups. This tool makes it easy to experiment with different harmonies and find the perfect color combinations for your quilts.
I encourage you to try it out! Play with the color wheel, explore various harmonies, and create palettes that match your quilting vision. You might just discover your next favorite color combination! |

As QuiltInk reaches its 4th anniversary, with a brand-new look and a smoother interface, I should be beyond excited—and I truly am. But I also have to be honest: I’m exhausted.
Pouring my heart into this transformation has been an all-consuming journey. For months, my personal life has taken a backseat as I worked nearly every waking hour to bring this vision to life. I’ve given it everything—every bit of energy, creativity, and determination I have. And while I’m incredibly proud of what’s been achieved, the intensity of it all has left me feeling drained. Balancing passion and rest is something I still need to learn.
But then, I look at this incredible community—designers, fabric shops, and quilters—who believe in QuiltInk, who support my work, who remind me why I started this in the first place. Your enthusiasm, your encouragement, your shared passion for this platform keep me going. I am so deeply grateful for each and every one of you.
And I can promise you this: I’m not stopping here. I will keep pushing forward, making QuiltInk better, adding more features, and bringing even more fun to this amazing quilting world we share. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. 💙 |
