The Kits in QuiltInk
Did you know that QuiltInk offers a unique feature called Kits? These kits make your creative journey even more inspiring and practical by pairing quilt patterns with curated fabric selections from fabric shops in our community. With Kits, you can color a quilt using fabrics you’ll know for sure are available and easy to get, making the process smoother and more enjoyable than ever.
Why Use Kits?
- Guaranteed Availability: Kits let you design with fabrics you know will be available in the shop that created the Kit, giving you confidence and ease when planning your project.
- From Design to Sewing Made Simple: With Kits, it’s as easy as color, buy, and sew. QuiltInk makes it effortless to get the fabrics you need: simply export the sheet with your fabric list and requirements directly from QuiltInk, and share it with the fabric shop. They’ll have everything you need to bring your design to life.
- Support Local Shops: By choosing Kits, you’re shining a light on talented fabric shops and strengthening the quilting community.
|
| |
How It Works
1. Pick a Pattern with a Kit:
- Find Kits on Patterns: Look for the Kit icon on the Patterns page—it marks the patterns paired with fabric Kits. Click the icon to visit the fabric shops that created the Kit, and find the Kit page.
- Discover Kits on Fabric Shop Profiles: Visit a Fabric Shop’s profile to see all the Kits they’ve created, making it easy to explore their curated selections.
|
| |
2. Shop and Custom Palettes:
When using a Kit, the available palettes are restricted to:
- Shop Fabrics: Only the fabrics from the shop that created the Kit are available. Solids or fabrics from other shops cannot be used, ensuring consistency in your design.
- Custom Palettes: Use this option to match fabrics you already have at home.
|
| |
3. Export the Fabric Requirements:
QuiltInk now includes a Fabric Requirements feature for every pattern with Kits. No matter which colors or fabrics you select, you’ll get an accurate list of how much fabric is needed.
If a Kit or pattern doesn’t already include the fabric requirements, users with a Supporter plan can add them and unlock this powerful option.
4. Get the Fabrics:
With your list of fabrics and amounts needed, ordering is simple! Contact the fabric shop directly using the information provided. You can find the shop's link in multiple places within QuiltInk:
- From the Coloring Page: A direct link to the shop is available while you're designing.
- From the Shop's Profile Page: Access the shop’s contact details and check all their contact info.
Export your design, complete with fabric names and requirements, and share it with the shop to place your order quickly and effortlessly. |
| |
Please do not hesitate to contact me by email at info@quiltink.com or via Instagram chat if you have any questions about the platform. I am always happy to assist any of our users!
Happy coloring! |

As we continue our exploration of color harmonies, let’s delve into one of the most vibrant and balanced approaches: triadic color harmony. This technique combines three colors evenly spaced on the color wheel, creating dynamic and visually striking quilt designs that feel both balanced and lively.
What is Triadic Color Harmony?
Triadic harmony involves selecting three colors that are equally spaced around the color wheel, such as red, yellow, and blue or green, orange, and purple. These combinations bring high contrast while maintaining a sense of balance, making them ideal for bold and energetic designs. |
| |

| |
Meaning and Emotion
Quilts made with triadic color harmony exude energy and playfulness. The balanced distribution of colors prevents any one hue from overpowering the others, resulting in a vibrant yet cohesive composition. Whether you’re crafting a cheerful holiday quilt with red, green, and gold tones, or a summer-inspired design with shades of teal, coral, and mustard, triadic harmony offers endless possibilities.
Focal Points in Triadic Quilts
The key to a successful triadic design lies in carefully balancing the intensity of each color. Using one as the dominant shade and the others as accents can help guide the viewer’s eye while maintaining the overall harmony. Pair bold prints with subtle textures to emphasize specific areas without overwhelming the design.
Quilting Application
Triadic color schemes open up a world of creativity by offering the perfect blend of contrast and cohesion. Whether you prefer solids, patterned fabrics, or a mix of both, triadic palettes are versatile and dynamic. Play with different fabric arrangements to see how these colors interact and discover unique ways to bring your quilt to life.
Triadic Inspiration!
To inspire you, I’ve selected two stunning triadic mock-ups from the QuiltInk wall. These examples showcase the power of three balanced hues working together to create eye-catching designs. From bold contrasts to softer, more nuanced palettes, these quilts demonstrate how triadic harmony can elevate your work to new heights.
Let’s keep exploring the endless possibilities of color theory and see how triadic harmony can inspire your next quilting adventure!

As the holiday season approaches, I find myself swept up in the joy and wonder of watching my children revel in the magic of this time of year. Their excitement over little things—twinkling lights, carefully wrapped presents, and the promise of surprises—reminds me of the beauty in seeing the world through their eyes.
While I may not be the most festive person, there’s something undeniably heartwarming about the collective energy of the season. It feels like we all lean into kindness a little more, finding ways to share love and gratitude in our own unique ways.
So, whether you’re stitching gifts for loved ones, enjoying quiet moments with your quilts, or simply soaking in the spirit around you, I hope this season brings you inspiration, warmth, and a little magic too. |
