As we step into November, I find myself thinking deeply about the Thanksgiving season and all the reasons to be grateful. For me, quilting wasn’t a tradition passed down through family — it was a world I entered with curiosity and a lot of enthusiasm. And from day one, I was met with a community that felt like a true gift: filled with kindness, creativity, and generosity. The support and warmth I've found among quilters have been beyond what I ever imagined, and it’s been incredibly fulfilling to see QuiltInk become part of that same amazing network.
Thank you to each of you who uses QuiltInk, shares your creations, and trusts this platform to bring your ideas to life. Your support fuels my passion and helps QuiltInk evolve into a tool that serves quilters everywhere, making each project a little brighter and more inspired. So, here’s to you, to our vibrant community, and to the art of quilting that binds us together. May this season be filled with creativity, warmth, and the special connections we all cherish. |

Fabric Shops in QuiltInk
This month, in our Tip section, we're thrilled to highlight the essential role Fabric Shops play in QuiltInk and the quilting industry. Fabric Shops add incredible value to our platform, offering a wide variety of printed and solid fabrics that enhance quilters’ creative choices. We’re excited to introduce these shops and encourage you to explore all they bring to our community!
Connecting the Quilt Industry: Fabric Shops on QuiltInk bridge the world of quilters, pattern designers, and fabric shops, creating a dynamic, collaborative experience. From early on, users expressed interest in printed fabrics, and we took on the challenge to ensure QuiltInk could scale these fabrics to fit quilt layouts perfectly. With Fabric Shops profiles, QuiltInk now offers more creative possibilities for all users.
Fabric Shops Features in QuiltInk:
- Custom Palettes for Each Shop – Fabric Shops present selection of curated unique palettes, accessible under the “Shops/Designers” tab on the coloring pages. Here, you can explore each shop’s fabric collection, finding the perfect additions for your own designs.
- Patterns with Kits – Fabric Shops can create Kits Patterns with the pattern already existing in QuiltInk and using their fabric collections. Choosing a Pattern with Kits provides access to the shop's specific palette, allowing you to recreate designs with fabrics directly available from that shop. We’ll have a Tip of the Month dedicated to Patterns with Kits soon, where we’ll go in-depth on how this option can streamline your fabric selection process!

Continuing our journey into color harmonies, we’re excited to explore a new approach this month: analogous color harmony. This technique creates quilts with a tranquil, unified feel by blending colors that naturally complement one another.
What is Analogous Color Harmony?
Analogous color harmony involves using colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel. By choosing three or four adjacent colors, you can create a cohesive, harmonious design. This method results in a seamless flow of color that enhances the visual appeal of your quilts while maintaining a soft, inviting feel. |
| |

| |
Meaning and Emotion
Analogous quilts often evoke feelings of serenity and balance. The gentle transitions between colors can create a calming effect, perfect for quilts that bring warmth and comfort. For instance, shades of blue, blue-green, and green can capture the peacefulness of nature, while warm yellows, oranges, and reds create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
Focal Points in Analogous Quilts
In analogous designs, achieving visual interest lies in subtle shifts between colors. To create focal points, consider varying fabric textures, patterns, or shapes within your chosen color scheme. This approach allows you to highlight specific areas of your quilt while maintaining a sense of harmony.
Quilting Application
Using an analogous palette provides quilters with the freedom to explore color relationships without the strong contrasts found in other harmonies. As you select your colors, experiment with different fabric types—solids, prints, and textures can all enhance the depth of your design. Whether you’re crafting a soft, floral-inspired quilt or a bold, vibrant piece, analogous colors can elevate your creativity and bring your vision to life.
Analogous Inspiration!
Let’s explore how analogous color schemes work in real quilting projects. Below, I've selected four beautiful analogous mock-ups from the QuiltInk wall. These examples show how closely related colors create stunning designs, illustrating how you can make impactful quilts with a sense of calm and cohesion.
Each mock-up highlights the fluid transitions between colors, allowing viewers to appreciate the interplay of tones, patterns, and textures that make analogous quilts so captivating. |

Last month, I shared thoughts on finding gratitude even during difficult times. But this month, my heart feels heavy, and honestly, I am deeply frustrated. I’m sure many of you have heard about the devastating floods that struck Valencia on October 31st. Although I’m safe here on the island, seeing the catastrophic loss and destruction so close to home has been hard to bear. Official reports tell of more than 200 lives lost, but local accounts suggest the number of missing may be much higher.
The Mediterranean climate does bring unpredictable weather, and we’ve faced similar events before, but this time feels different. I can’t shake the feeling that much more could have been done to alert and support the affected communities in time. People have had to rely on each other, with neighboring towns coming together to help in ways that should have been organized at a higher level.
While I’m moved by the strength and compassion shown by everyday people, I’m left with frustration that more wasn’t done to prevent this tragedy from escalating to such a degree. In moments like these, I can’t help but feel that things need to change for the future. For now, though, my thoughts are with everyone affected, and I am so grateful for those who stepped in to help when it was needed most. |
